April 17, 2026: Severe storms bring wind damage and a few tornadoes to the region

At least 10 tornadoes, including EF-1s near Pecatonica, Harrison, and Roscoe in Illinois, struck the NWS Chicago area on April 17, 2026, amid an active severe weather stretch with large hail, 60-70 mph winds, and river rises from heavy rain. The event capped repeated storms from April 13-17 outlooked at high risk levels.
