Severe storms bring wind damage and a few tornadoes to the region

At least 10 tornadoes, including EF-1 strikes in Pecatonica, Harrison and Roscoe, Illinois, plus large hail over 2 inches and 60-70 mph wind gusts caused widespread damage on April 17 in the NWS Chicago area. Repeated heavy rain led to river rises on the Rock, Fox and Des Plaines rivers.
