Why is Michigan seeing so many tornado chances this early in the season?

Michigan experienced an active early tornado season with an EF-3 near Union City on March 6, an EF-1 in Van Buren Township on April 4, and a tornado watch on April 14 warning of potential twisters, 70 mph winds, and 2-inch hail. Record warm March temperatures and high precipitation fueled instability and moisture for severe storms.
